Once crossed by fields of roses Centifolia and flowers with perfume, La Colle-sur-Loup was one of the main suppliers of perfumeries Grasse. Since 2007, La Colle-sur-Loup has been celebrating the rose every year in mid-May. But the first editions date back to the 50s and were intended to bring the press and starlets installed on the Croisette during the Cannes film festival! During this extraordinary celebration, a young Colloise was elected Queen of Roses, while a star received the «prize of Roses». Brigitte Bardot, Michelle Mercier and Luis Mariano were among the first winners!
Sunday, May 19 marked the 70th anniversary of this emblematic festival born in 1954.
On the program: exhibition, old films, conferences and exchanges in the Garden of Scents to learn more about the history of this rose with a hundred petals. Flowery streets between artisans, rose growers and nurseries. Creative workshops and musical walks all day. A flowery course with folk music. A unique show combining lyrical songs and fragrant anecdotes: Opera and Perfume.
Among the artisans: embroidery, porcelain, floral decorations, soaps, cosmetics, jewelry, candles, knives, origami … Not to mention our resident traders. And what to enjoy: donuts, Hungarian brioches, cheeses, cold cuts, cookies, socca, cakes, truffles, crepes, ice cream, wines, teas, honey, nougats, dried fruits, ravioli, punch, beers … Not to mention our restaurateurs!
